PEEC Nature Center Facility

Come by and discover the natural history of the Pajarito Plateau. We offer exhibits on rocks, fossils, plants, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and more. We have several live local animals for you to look at. Our herbarium offers help to those seeking to identify plants. If you'd like to explore Los Alamos's open space, then pick up a trail guide and stroll the nearby trails.

The Pajarito Envirnomental Education Center is located at 3540 Orange Street, Los Alamos, New Mexico. For directions to the Center, see our Map to PEEC page. Current operating hours are listed on the Home Page.


Library

PEEC Nature Center houses a library of several hundred books. Two comfortable reading areas are available. PEEC members may check out books for reading at home.


Herbarium

PEEC is the home of the Jemez Mountain Herbarium.


Facility Rental

The classroom at PEEC can be rented for meetings and parties. Please contact us for details.

PEEC's Young Naturalist's corner offers games, a reading area, and items to explore.

PEEC's demonstration low-water lawns and flower garden were planted by volunteers in October 2005. Come inside and pick up hand-outs on low-watering gardening.
