Come Take a PEEC at Nature

Announcements & News

Photos from the Nature Center Groundbreaking!

Nature Center Groundbreaking CeremonyIt was a wonderful event on Earth Day, when members of the community gathered for the new nature center groundbreaking ceremony. Representative Ben Lujan, County Council Chair Geoff Rodgers and PEEC Board President Terry Foxx all shared a few words, and the Barranca and Aspen Elementary School choirs sung "The Garden Song" by John Denver. The new Los Alamos County Nature Center is slated to open in Spring, 2015 and will be a wonderful new asset for Los Alamos and northern New Mexico! View the Photos

PEEC to Participate in the First Give Grande on May 6

Give Grande New MexicoPEEC is one of a handful of organizations in Los Alamos and numerous organizations statewide that will participate in the first "Give Grande" on May 6, 2014, which is part of a national day of community giving called Give Local America. When you donate to PEEC through Give Grande during this 24-hour period, your local gift will be amplified with dollars from a national incentive pool of funds, plus New Mexico will also have its own, additional incentive prizes! This means more funds for PEEC, which will go toward the $1 million we have pledged to raise to outfit the new Los Alamos County Nature Center with indoor and outdoor exhibits. So learn more about Give Grande, and mark your calendar to support PEEC on May 6!

Dorothy Hoard Memorial Fund at PEEC

PEEC wishes to honor the remarkable life of Dorothy Hoard and her countless contributions to our understanding and love of the Pajarito Plateau by establishing the Dorothy Hoard Memorial Fund. The Discovery Garden currently being designed for the new Nature Center will honor Dorothy's love for wildflowers and butterflies. Please express your appreciation for Dorothy and her work by contributing to this part of the new Los Alamos Nature Center. Click here to donate online.
